The 1000cc Varadero made it into Rides top ten as a bargain. No way should it be there, top 20 maybe but at up to 2 big ones for a 10 year old bike that struggles to do 125mph, guzzles fuel and weighs a ton it’s ridiculous. You can pick up a 5 year old Kawasaki Versys for that, which has the same top speed, is much lighter, better handling and will do 60+mpg. The jury is out on which bike would be better offroad, but I found the Versys pretty useful on the dirt roads in the mountains of Spain. The extra weight of the Varedero would have made it much more difficult to ride over the loose ground for me.
